&&&&这是一个结合了第三人称冒险、角色扮演、即时战略多种元素的游戏，以17世纪初欧洲历史上赫赫有名的“海盗时代”为游戏背景，扮演一名年轻船长为英格兰、法兰西、西班牙三个集团效劳，或者干脆揭竿而起，当一名无法无天、天马行空的海盗。
&&&&扮演一个经商的航海家或豪取强夺、无恶不作的海盗，对玩家的要求是不同的。做海盗固然可以很快地积累起大量的财富，但是要冒很大的风险，这和现实生活差不多。而航海经商看似辛苦，但一样能赚大钱，并且还能领略生意场上的风云变幻，绝对是另一种游戏体验。游戏中的NPC会带来各种不同的任务，从他们那里收集到的信息和情报对于推动游戏进程的发展。举足轻重。港口小镇上的商店可以补充弹药、修理船只、购买重要零件（让我想起了《星球大战前传》的情节），但是与《大航海时代》不同的是你可以在城镇中任意走动，就像普通冒险游戏一样。
&&&&采用3D即时动画的片头处理得很好，人物脸部贴图自然真实，并且没有那种普遍的画面抖动现象，尤其是主角与母亲依依惜别的场面可以清楚地感受到母爱亲情。游戏的画面非常出色，在硬件加速下提供高分辨率的3D图像，充满了美丽、创造性、疯狂奇异、和平宁静、忧愁悲哀等等各种视觉效果和情绪。从海天一色到沿岸的城堡村庄都非常真实和细致，昼夜交替和天气系统会影响到船队的航行。游戏中的20余种战舰都符合真实历史，显然开发者对这段历史进行过认真研究。美中不足的是有的时候游戏视角会出现偏差，不过也属于第三人称3D游戏的通病。
&&&&海盗游戏的最大卖点不是商业经营，而是海战。《海狗》中的海战场面气势宏大，因为传统的海战是靠火炮射击，装备的火炮数量越多、口径越大在战斗中越占优势，当两军对垒万炮齐发的时候，你能真切地感受到海战的激烈残酷。海战的第二阶段就是战船靠近以后的肉搏战，双方水手拼人数和实力，攻占对方的战船就是胜利。如此的3D海战游戏尚属首个，如果能够为市场所接受，应该会出现更多的跟风游戏。>后使用快捷导航没有帐号？
