是从初中开始学习英语的,在此之前,从未以任何形式学习过英语,也没有学习英语的家庭背景。小学的时候喜欢听小虎队的歌,也算是个fan。偶尔也自己学唱几首,但歌词中时常会夹杂几句英文或几个单词,由于不会发音,总不情愿的跳过这段。后来反复聆听原唱,鹦鹉学舌般的学会了那几段英文的大致“唱法”,但只会唱,不会读,更不知道什么意思。 这件事看起来很小,但对 影响很大,以至于 至今还记得小学时不认得的那几句英文歌词。记得有一句是“能不能叫你一声my love,亲爱的时候…”,当时知道love是爱的意思,但my是什么意思就不明白了。上初中以后,当 有一天突然在课堂上学会了my这个词的意思,竟激动的心怦怦跳。 如果说由于几首歌是 产生了学习英语的强烈愿望并坚持至今的话,未免有些牵强,但这的确使 在小学的时候对英语产生了一种“情结”。在读初中以后, 对美国流行歌曲产生了浓厚的兴趣。在 的同学当时还在迷恋于港台“四大天王”、周华健、林志颖的时候, 却每天都在听惠特尼o休斯敦、玛丽亚o凯丽、麦克尔o杰克逊等歌手的专辑, 几乎搜集到了他们每张专辑的磁带、cd和mv。毕竟当时的英语水平是在有限,平时在课堂上还在学习how do you do. good morning之类的句子,歌词肯定是弄不明白, 就去买了一本10多万词汇量的很厚很厚的英汉词典。本想有了词典,对照着磁带或cd中附带的歌词去查,应该可以弄懂,但当 翻开满是密密麻麻解释的词典去查找一个个陌生的单词时,发现每个词竟然有那么多释义,再加上对语法的一无所知,所以觉得这字典是白买了。 尽管这样,每当在听歌的时候听懂一个学过的单词,都会很兴奋。每过一段时间, 都会觉得似乎在听这些英文歌的时候竟然比以前能多听懂很多单词,这也反映了 英语知识的进步。“听”到自己的进步,真是觉得英语没有白学,觉得很有收获,这样,就会愈发努力学习英语。不仅在课堂上学,课下 还通过广播自学了一套教材,觉得这是 迄今见过的最好的英语启蒙和提高的教材,这里介绍给大家:《初级美国英语(active american english)》,赖世雄编著。后来在高中又学习了这本教材的中级,上大学后又学了高级。 1.2.2电影对促进学习英语的作用 上高中的那三年,国内vcd盛行,几乎家家都有vcd播放机,租售影碟的店铺也雨后春笋般的出现。于是 又迷恋上了好莱坞电影。当时几乎看遍了市面上可以租到的原声电影。看电影的时候也时常会听懂几句甚至几段,看完每部电影还会抄下电影英文名和主要演员的名字。当时听英文歌,看英文电影虽然听不懂多少,对词汇和语法知识的增长也不会有太多的促进作用,但在这种过程中,潜移默化的提高了 对英语发音、语调的认识,不断的鼓励 抓紧时间多学些英语知识。 由于经常、大量的接触英文歌曲和电影, 的口语在初中和高中以及至今,都在自己周围学习英语的圈子里出类拔萃。 这里 要特别指出一点, 们在选择听或看的内容时,一定要紧跟时代的脉搏。选择那些当年或近两年的音乐和电影作品。过于久远的作品会使人感到沉闷,其各方面的表现手段、效果与感染力也比较差,当然也有一些经典老歌和电影值得 们去回味。 们可以利用billboard和北美电影排行榜来选择看和听的内容。 1.2.3电脑和网络对学习英语的影响 在 们看和听的过程中,不仅增长了对英语发音的常识和自信,更是使 们增长了不少文化背景知识。另外,电脑与网络的发展也为 们学习英语创造了极为便利的条件。比如,对电脑接触的越多,就越能发现自己的词汇量不足,激励 们多学新的单词;利用互联网可以远隔重洋交英语国家的朋友,利用网络语音视频聊天,发电子邮件交笔友等等; 们还可以去国内外英语学习网站或论坛搜集学习资料,交流心得;利用网络可以很容易下载最新的英文歌曲和电影、连续剧等,比如利用bt或emule等p2p软件。 1.3、对已经不喜欢学习英语或学习英语陷入困境的而又不得不学的英语学习者谈一谈 不得不说,在这样的一种状态下去学习英语实在是事倍功半,或是收效微乎其微,学不好导致不喜欢学,不喜欢学更学不好,这是一种恶性循环,必须转变学习英语的观念和方法,逐渐培养兴趣和信心,才能最终走上正路。 很多处于这种心态的英语学习者学习英语只是用来应付各种考试,比如为了拿4/6级证。他们觉得学习英语对他们将来的事业和发展不会有什么作用或用途不大,觉得学习英语是在浪费时间。其实 也不同意要让所有的人从中学一直到大学都学习英语,的确,对很多人来说,工作后接触英语的机会很少。是否要让英语在 国基础教育和高等教育中占有这么重要的位置这个问题现在国内的教育界人士有很多不同的看法,但要想改变一定会需要些时间,既然大的方针短期内不会有明显的变化, 们还是要去学英语的。既然要学,为什么不让自己先感兴趣起来,从而选择一种比较轻松的学习方式? 从初中到大学,在 身边总会看到有很多刻苦学习英语,在英语学习上花费了大量的时间、精力和金钱,但收效微乎其微。或者他们学习4个小时的东西可能 半个小时就可以掌握了。还有很多人由于屡战屡败,最终发誓再也不学英语了。看到这些人 觉得很难过,为 们的英语启蒙及英语基础教育难过。这也是 长期以来立志要做一名英语教师的原因。由于在初学英语的时候没有专门培养对英语的兴趣和掌握良好的学习方法,导致他们的学习效率低下。做不喜欢做的事,当然不会做好。即使做好了,也要花费相当的时间和精力,觉得这是一种浪费。 其实学好英语并不是很困难的一件事,特别是如果只为了学到高考或是大学英语4/6级(cet-4/6)的水平,即使是英语专业4级(tem-4), 觉得只要掌握了好的学习方法和心态,再多努努力,都不会有什么问题。本人中考英语142/150分,高考122/150,大学英语四级(cet-4)85分,英语专业四级(tem-4)62分(03年英语专业四级由于难度较大,过级分数由60分降到56分, 的作文仅得6/20分,其中小作文满分5分一般都可以拿到2分,难道 15分的大作文才得4分?至今没有弄明白为什么这么低。03年“专四”最难的听写部分拿到12/15分)英语专业8级(tem-8)成绩还没有下来。当然,分数并不能说明一切,身边有很多比 分数高很多的同学,但是关键在于 学英语的确没有怎么“努力”,就是很轻松的去学一些,也没有像很多人那样刻苦,平时接触和学习英语比在课堂上系统学习的时间多。 首先,有一点是肯定的。讨厌学习英语的人在他们刚刚接触并学习英语的时候并不会讨厌它。这种对英语厌烦甚至抵触的心理是在学习英语的过程中逐渐产生并恶化的。这种厌烦的心理产生的原因 总结了一下,主要是由于教师对英语教学中兴趣培养的忽视,也可能是教师传授英语知识的方法或手段比较死板,比如可以表现为: 1. 过分强调语法规则的讲解,所谓的死扣语法。 2. 题海战术。即让学生做大量高难度的英语知识习题,让学生在做题犯错的挫折与失败中学习英语。 3. 忽视对学生口语发音规范化、地道化的培养,导致很多学生发音一塌糊涂,不敢张口说出英语。 4. 教师讲课缺乏激情,照本宣科,做活字典似的老师。 5. 没有向学生详细讲解该如何正确的记忆单词,致使学生在记忆单词过程中饱受遗忘之苦。 6. 强调英语学习的应试目的,忽视英语作为一种交流工具的作用,导致在课堂上缺乏师生交流的互动。 7. 授课教师缺乏个人魅力,不能吸引学生,讲课不能引人入胜。 从上面可以看出,教师对英语初学者的启蒙和指导作用是多么重要。可能教师无意中对某方面教学的忽略,会导致很多学生逐渐丧失学习英语的兴趣和动力。 客观地说, 国的英语教育事业,特别是英语的基础教育近年来有了很大的发展和变革,涌现了许许多多好的英语一线教师。但是 们也不得不承认,由于 国经济社会发展的不平衡,这些教师大多数存在于省级重点学校和东南沿海发达地区的学校中,对于大多数普通学校,这种教师数量有限,而且正在不断流失。在这种情况下,要求英语学习者不能仅靠教师的传授,更需要自己在学习英语的过程中不断摸索,找到正确的学习方法。 学习是一项艰苦的劳动,学习语言更是难上加难。为什么这么说呢? 就拿 们学习母语汉语的过程来说, 们在出生几个月后,就开始了牙牙学语,周围环境的影响对语言学习至关重要。 们在会写汉语前就已经可以非常熟练的运用汉语来表达自己的观点了,而且 们没系统学习过语法就可以出口成章了,在学习汉语的时候也从来没有做过这么多单项选择题。随着 们在幼儿园、小学、中学、大学中对汉语知识科学系统的学习,使 们使用汉语更加熟练和规范,可以更清晰准确地表达自己和倾听别人。同时, 们的阅读和写作的能力也达到了一个较高的程度。从开始学习到熟练运用汉语,大概需要十几年的时间,在这个阶段里的每一天, 们都在使用它,学汉语时使用汉语,学其它学科也是用汉语。使 们的语言能力在学习和使用中不断进步。 人类具有学习语言的本能,而且人类已经习惯于在 们上面提到的那种规律下学习语言,然而 们对外语的学习却是逆道而行。就拿 们学习英语来说,在 们还不怎么会说的时候,却先学习了语法。在 们不太会读的时候却已经学会了一些单词的拼写。而且 们一般只在课堂上才能说几句已经成套路的英语或者用英语造几个句子。用这种违背人类学习语言规律的方法学外语,势必会给 们学习造成很多障碍。比如,单词拼写不准确,容易遗忘;语法不扎实,运用不灵活,受母语影响严重。另外发音更是一塌糊涂,即使单个单词发音准确,但句子的语调、重音和停顿也很不地道。 这么多困难摆在眼前, 们在学习英语的过程中很容易遭受挫折和气馁。所以,学习英语一定要扬长避短,变不利为有利,尽量让自己学习英语的过程符合学习汉语的规律,也就是顺应人类学习语言的规律。
们不可能在一个完全的英语环境下学习英语,但可以想法设法,千方百计的创造学习英语的氛围。比如,可以每天听英语广播、看英语频道电视节目;或者每天看一部英文电影或连续剧;或阅读一些英文报纸和杂志。其实,创造一个“被动的”英语环境并不难,但仅仅被动的去听和看是不够的, 们要主动的运用英语去表达和沟通。比如, 们可以在课堂上多用英语和老师交流;课下找机会多接触外籍教师;或是多和口语比较好的同学切磋,甚至可以在互联网上找国外的朋友用英语进行文字或语音的交流(可以用pal talk这个软件)。即使一个人的时候,也可以让自己扮演两个角色进行即兴的英语对话。 总之,学习英语不是一朝一夕的事,更不是仅仅在课堂上学习。 们要在生活中时时刻刻留意着英语。多看些国际新闻,多了解发生在世界各地的形形色色的奇闻轶事,即使是通过汉语来了解这些,对 们学习英语仍然会有所帮助。 也许有人会问,怎样做才算在生活中留意英语了呢?其实 们可以从留意各种英文缩写开始。比如, 们去银行,可以看到icbc(industrial and commercial bank of china);去吃快餐,可以看到kfc(kentucky fried chicken),macdonald’s;去保险公司,可以看到picc(people’s insurance corporation of china);看新闻可以经常听到opec(organization of petroleum exporting countries)、apec(the asia-pacific economic cooperation)、who(world health organization)、wto(world trade organization)、uneso(united nation education and science organization)等等。用电脑,更会遇到很多英文,比如pc(personal computer)、cd-rom(compact disk read only memory)、ie(internet explorer)、http(hyper-text transfer protocol)等等。使用数码相机会经常看到ae(automatic exposure)、af(automatic focus)等。 生活中 们接触英语的机会很多很多,关键看 们能否细心。在生活中发现英语,在生活中巩固英语,把英语学习贯穿于每时每刻。换句话说,英语的学习过程不是整块的拿起,而是一粒粒的拾起。所以, 们说,学好外语的人,都是比较细心的人。 . 1.4、学好英语还应该具备哪些素质 1.持之以恒。 前面 们说过,学习英语决不是一朝一夕,甚至不是一年两年的事。 们要具有过人的耐力去长期坚持。这一点在记忆英语单词的过程中显得尤为重要。有人说过,记忆单词就好像是记忆和遗忘之间的一场赛跑。单词的积累是在不断记忆和不断遗忘的过程中成长起来的。很多英语学习者抱怨自己的记忆力差,记单词总容易忘。孰不知,没有人会过目不忘, 们都是在不停的忘记而又不停的记忆。所谓的进步,其实就是记忆的速度大于遗忘的速度而产生的。当然,一味的记忆是行不通的,其中有许多的方法和规律去遵循。如单词的“音型”记忆法,艾宾浩斯记忆曲线等等。 2.自信。 学习英语最重要的一点要脱口而出。说不好,说错了不要紧,关键要相信自己在进步,要百折不挠。充满自信大声的说出英语是学好英语的关键,同时在说的过程中也会增强自信心。这也是 们设立“英语角”,举办英语演讲、朗诵、辩论赛的初衷。 3.要讲究方法。 方法得当,可以学得很轻松,也很省时间。比如记单词的方法,学语法的方法,练习口语和听力的方法等。这些方法 将在后面的篇幅详细说明。 2.1为什么说口语和听力是英语学习的重中之重
国的英语教育一度很忽视对口语和听力的培养,在高考中开始听力测试也不过是四五年前的事。随着近年来 国英语教育的发展,对口语和听力的重视程度与日俱增。英语专业四级(tem-4)已经增设了口试,据说大学英语四六级(cet-4/6)也快要进行口试了。 们暂且不谈这些口试设立的考核效果如何,但毕竟它或多或少的促进了英语教育中对口语和听力的培养。 然而,很多同学在学习英语的过程中没有充分认识到口语和听力的重要性,或者说他们对听力的重视还是有的,因为是很多考试的考查范围。而对于口语,由于多数考试,比如中学里的英语期中期末考试、高考以及大学中非英语专业的公共英语四六级,并不考,所以很多人觉得学习口语没什么用。既然考试不考,自己现在学英语就是为了应付考试,本来时间就紧,干脆把口语放一边。 在这种情况下,很多人学的是“哑巴”英语,或“半哑巴”英语。 想,这部分忽视英语口语的学习者做了一件得不偿失、目光短浅的事。为什么这么说呢?下面 们从人类学习语言的角度仔细分析一下。
们知道,广义的语言包括有声的语音和书写的文字。语音的产生在人类语言发展史上先于文字相当长一段时间产生。可以说,语音是文字的基础,文字只是语音的一种表达形式而已。语音可以脱离于文字独立存在,历史上存在过(在文字产生前),现在也仍然存在( 们说的“文盲”就属于这种情况。)但文字却不能脱离语音而存在,即使 们在阅读的时候没有发音,可实际上这个“发音”仅仅是没有用嘴来体现出来,在大脑中还是会和脑中已经存在的那些发音一一对号入座的。 当然,在极端的情况下,人们也可以抛开语音直接把事物和文字之间强制建立联系,比如先天的聋哑人学习语言的过程就属于这种情况。但这种逆道而行的语言学习要比正常的方式耗费相当多的时间和精力。 人们开始学习语言的时候要先把事物与语音建立联系。比如在 们很小的时候,妈妈拿着一个香蕉告诉 们:“这是香蕉。”让 们对香蕉这个事物的发音和香蕉的实物在脑中直接建立关联。开始的时候可能会记不牢,但随着日后妈妈或者周围的环境反复的教授, 们就会把这种发音与它所代表的实物建立长期稳固的联系,保留在大脑中。 相反的,以后 们再看到香蕉,可能会脱口而出香蕉的发音,外国人可能会脱口而出banana。这种联系的建立是不需要文字的参与的。这种语言学习的形式是最原始而又最符合人类学习语言规律的。换句话说, 们在学习语言的时候,要先让自己成为一个“文盲”,即只会发音,并不知道对应的文字。 由于语言环境的作用, 们在学习书面文字前,就已经把现实生活中很多的事物与它们各自的语音建立了稳固的联系。见到事物的实体, 们可以立即脱口而出相应的语音;听到某个事物的语言,能马上在头脑中反映出这个事物的形象。这里说的“事物”并不限于名词类的,动词、形容词、副词也一样可以及那里这种联系。比如有人在跑,妈妈会告诉 们,那个人在“跑”, 们就会明白,那种运动就是跑。 上面举了很多的例子,其实就是为了说明:正常的语言学习是首先把事物与语音建立起联系(上小学以前),然后再把语音和文字建立起联系(小学、初中、高中语文课的任务)。无论是学习汉语还是英语,都应该遵循这个规律。 这里要特别指出,在学习语言的过程中, 们极少把文字和事物直接建立联系,即使起初建立了文字与实物的联系,逐渐也会脱离文字把文字的语音直接与实物建立关联。先天的聋哑人在学习语言的时候,只能把文字与事物建立联系,他们学习语言的过程相当漫长,进步也很慢。这就是因为他们对语言的学习方式违背了人类学习语言的规律。 说到这里, 们反思一下,是不是有很多人学习英语的时候采用的是聋哑人的学习方式呢?甚至采用了一种比聋哑人的学习方式还要繁琐的方法。比如,很多人在学英语的时候,碰到一个生词会去查英汉词典,找到这个英文的汉语意思,然后才通过这个汉语的意思在头脑中产生这个英文单词所代表的事物。这种学习方式其实是把文字(英)转化成文字(汉)再转化成事物。这种学习方式把很多的经历浪费在这种转化上,所以很费精力,并且提高不快,容易遗忘。 还是用前面说过的香蕉的例子, 们再记忆banana这个词的时候,不要把banana这几个字母的拼写顺序和汉字“香蕉”对应,而是要在开始记忆单词的时候直接把banana的发音与香蕉在脑中的实体(形象)建立关联。 们可以忘记banana这个单词的拼法,但尽量不要忘记它的发音。也就是说, 们在学英语的时候,先让自己成为一个文盲就可以了,千万不要急着去拼写。因为很多时候 们图方便,可能会很容易把banana这几个字母的拼写和“香蕉”这两个汉字直接建立联系。 作为一个中国人,学习英语难免要通过汉语,特别是在初学英语的时候。开始的时候词汇量太少,不能使用英英词典,不得不通过英汉词典去学习。所以, 们有时候要刻意忘记英语中香蕉的拼写方法以及英文banana对应的汉语“香蕉”,把banana的读音脱离它的拼写和汉字“香蕉”来记忆,这样效果最好。当然,会发音后拼写并不是什么问题,只需要注意一些特殊字母的发音规则就好了。而且通过“音和形”去记忆单词是最不容易忘记的,很多人记单词容易忘其实就是因为他们没有把英语单词的发音与在大脑中其所代表的形象建立联系,而是把单词的拼写(字母的顺序)直接和汉字建立了联系。 以上说的是正确学习英语的一个最基本和最重要的前提,或者说是指导思想,希望大家仔细体会。
