OS X 10.7.1 Hardware Compatibility
Hardware Components
This is a component level hardware compatibility list. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying hardware. Add which parts you have working in the categories listed below, or create a new category. Please keep alphabetical order inside the categories. The categories themselves are ordered by popularity. Please list any caveats or problems as well.
ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
Please add hardware into tables.
This is for 10.7.1 builds only.
For how to edit the Wiki, please see
thread. Thank you!

Update from existing 10.6.8 (TonyMac?s MultiBeast)
Install Method for 10.7: TonyMac?s xMove + MultiBeast, update over my existing 10.6.8
followed TonyMac?s instructions. After installation of 10.7, deleted "Extra- Folder" from 10.6.8 completely, dsdt.aml and everything, installed new MultiBeast without any additional Kext?s.
Left only skge.kext for LAN (only the fastest Lan-Port of the two ports works) and voodooHda.kext for audio (from10.6.8) inside System/L/Extensions, deleted NV64Enabler for graphics. System runs perfect only with the two additional Kexts.
Updated to 10.7.1 .... now to 10.7.2
Shutdown and reboot work fine. Sleep does not work. Update was very easy without ruining my existing 10.6.8, with which I had been dissatisfied (better leave your System to 10.6.7)
skge.kext, voodooHda.kext, no dsdt
forgot to mention that I changed the BIOS long time ago with p5q-asus-deluxe-2201-mac-dsdt.rom update1/2012: changed BIOS again to the newest original ASUS-Bios - ok

Pentium DC E5200 OC'd @ 3.2 GHz
Flashed ECS G31T-M (see 10.5.6 HCL)
My method of install was Niresh12495-Lion, Google it. After I gathered everything necessary for the install, I restored the Niresh image (Its untouched, maybe slight modifications to the install disk, but everything for the most part is pure Lion and Vanilla, there are no kexts or anything included with the install)
to a restore partition I created, and used the tools that came with it all to make it bootable. TIP: The boot loader theme it comes with is really nice, but Niresh added a picture of himself to selection screen, so after you make the drive bootable you'll want to go into the /Extra/Themes folder of the Restore drive you just created and change the "background.png" with something you like. I personally got an un-modified version of the one that Niresh put his picture on.
Continuing on, my GPU (An HIS Radeon 4670) which is another really-uncompatible piece (Just my luck) works perfectly with Snow Leopard after updating to 10.6.8, but in Lion it requires a DVI to VGA plugged into the DVI slot and then just Plug your Monitor's VGA into the VGA slot on your card (not the DVI to VGA). At least it gets Full QE/CI!
Ethernet, unlike snow leopard, does NOT work out of the box and neither does sound. But Luckily, Realtek has released kexts for mac. You'll want the OS X drivers for
just scroll all the way down until you see their OS X download Links. For sound you need ALC662 which can be Downloaded , they're for GA-945GCM-S2L (It will still work for our ECS G31T-M) Double-Click and Install "Azalia 12.0.5" Only.
After Installing the Ethernet drivers, AppStore still won't work, It returns an error that computer or device is not "valid". To fix this I followed someones pretty quick, simple guid. Here's the
Lastly but definitely not least, It updates through software update with NO problem like a real mac!! Just a note from previous experiences, If you ever do update and can't get back in (no screen, or garbled) then try getting in with safe mode (-x at boot) as something may have gone wrong with your GPU kexts from the update. Hope this works for you! Good Luck!
